First of 10 Enviro200s for Xelabus

Eastleigh-based Xelabus has acquired the first of 10 Euro6 Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC single-deckers for its routes in Eastleigh and Southampton.

Managing director Gareth Blair says: “We are continually looking for new ways to introduce more environmentally friendly buses to the streets. We invested last year in three diesel-electric hybrid double-deckers. This year will also see 14 of our double-deckers retrofitted with catalytic converter technology as part of a government funding scheme to make buses in cities cleaner. The further nine of these Enviro200s are expected to join our fleet from the spring.”

All 10 have four-cylinder Cummins ISB4.5 engines and Allison automatic transmission and are being supplied by Mistral Bus & Coach.

The hybrid double-deckers acquired last year were secondhand Wright-bodied Volvo B5LHs new to Bakerbus in Staffordshire.

Xelabus was formed nine years ago and in 2015 took over the routes from Black Velvet Travel and Brijan Tours.
