East Coast Buses launches open-top summer tour

Lothian Buses’ East Coast Buses subsidiary today announced the launch of East Coast Tours for visitors and residents to East Lothian, with a new open-top double-deck scenic tour linking popular visitor locations.

With two daily departures from Waverley Bridge in Edinburgh and departing hourly from North Berwick between 30 June and 31 August then throughout every weekend in September, two newly refurbished Scania OmniCity open-top tour buses with live guides will showcase the attractions that East Lothian has to offer.

Mark Heritage, general manager at East Coast Buses, says: “Attractions benefiting from this new transport link include Tantallon Castle, North Berwick Gin Distillery, the National Museum of Flight, National Flag Museum, Chesters Hill Fort and Dirleton Castle.

John McMillan, East Lothian Council’s cabinet spokesperson for economic development and tourism, says: “East Coast Tours is a fantastic initiative, providing visitors with a new way of getting around to experience many of East Lothian’s wonderful sights and linking attractions together. With live guides, it promises to be informative and insightful. As well as visitors it’s also a chance for local residents, perhaps including those who are new to the county, to find out more about East Lothian’s richness, history and geography. I’m sure the view from the top deck on a sunny day of our wonderful coast and countryside will be an unforgettable experience.”

Hop-on/hop-off travel all day on East Coast Tours cost £15 per adult and £7.50 per child aged 5 to 15; family and concession tickets are also available. Customers can also travel in and out of Edinburgh or from another East Lothian destination with an East Coast Explorer ticket, including all-day hop-on/hop-off on the tour bus plus unlimited all-day travel on all East Coast Buses services at £18 per adult and £9 per child.  Ticket holders can also take advantage of discounts to The National Museum of Flight, North Berwick Gin Distillery and Scottish Seabird Centre simply by showing their ticket on entry.
