Arriva is inviting the people of Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas to a free fun-filled family day out at its newly opened depot, on Sunday 27 May, from 11.00-15.00. The depot was officially opened on 20 April by local MP and business secretary Greg Clark.
On the day, families can enjoy music from KMFM, sausage and mash from Gourmand Farm’s quirky shepherds hut and a selection locally sourced gins, sparkling wine based cocktails, fizz and soft drinks from the Mama Gin vintage bar.
Parents and kids can take on the challenge of the Gladiator Duel and Penalty Shootout or try their luck on traditional fairground attractions such as Whack-a-Mole and Hook-a-Duck. Lots of prizes are up for grabs, and visitors can enjoy viewing a selection of buses, from classic vintage right through to modern day as well as other activities.
Oliver Monahan, area managing director for Arriva Kent and Surrey, says: “We hope to welcome many people from the community to the Fun Day, along with our staff and their families. The party is to celebrate the opening of our long awaited new depot. Feedback from local customers and councillors is extremely important to us and the new depot, coupled with our network changes in the area, are all part of how we are working hard to improve the daily experience of our customers.”
To visit on the day, catch the number 277 Arriva bus from the town centre, or one of the free shuttle services operating from 10.30 to 16.00. Shuttle 1 will operate every 20min between the depot and Tunbridge Wells railway station and Shuttle 2 will operate every 10min between the former Toys ‘R’ Us car park in North Farm industrial estate and the depot, as there is no parking at the site. The depot is at 10-11 Kingstanding Way, Tunbridge Wells, TN2 3UP (just up the road from John Lewis and opposite Jewson’s).
