Clarkes of London, part of National Express, has partnered with Mobile Onboard to bring mobile ticketing to its commuter services. Having proved its smart ticketing technology expertise with sister company The Kings Ferry, Clarkes of London chose Mobile Onboard to deliver a smart ticketing system to replace its paper tickets.
Clarkes of London wanted to reduce cash handling on its commuter services by replacing its existing higher value tickets with the adoption of mobile ticketing and E-ticketing while using rapid barcode validation of mobile tickets on-board its vehicles. The system is specially developed by Mobile Onboard, which is powered by their MyMobileTickets platform, and is being deployed across the entire commuter fleet. The integrated back-office reporting and management system provides Clarkes of London detailed data on ticket sales, customer ticketing accounts as well as custom reporting from on-board its commuter services including passenger counting.
Barcode validation of mobile tickets on buses and coaches is becoming a more common requirement from transport operators. Clarkes of London recognises the value of the additional data it collects from on-board as well as the extra security and revenue protection it provides. The benefits of the on-board mTicketr solution for Clarkes of London are clear, with accurate, sub-second barcode scanning making that instant on-bus validation possible. Notably quicker and more accurate than visual confirmation by the driver it delivers a smoother and more efficient passenger boarding experience.
Mobile Onboard’s Corbin Adler says: “Bringing smart ticketing to their customers showcases Clarkes of London’s vision to lead the way in providing a better service to commuters while getting data that enables them to improve its commuter services into London. For us, providing the mobile ticketing, powering the smart ticket machines and powering a smart ticketing infrastructure highlights how incredibly scalable and powerful our ticketing platform is.”
